[SOLVED] Compiz Glitchy/not Working Correctly

I have been trying to run Compiz & Emerald, either as a standalone WM or in Gnome, however I found that Gnome3 does not support outside WM's anymore.
When trying to start compiz by using "compiz --replace" or "compiz --replace ccp" I get this:

I appreciate any help or advice.

EDIT: it would seem that I may have found the solution to my own problem. Apparently my gfx card (intel 965) has been blacklisted since the last time I used compiz on this machine.
