ASUS F8vr mike phone does not work!

Dear all,

My laptop's mike phone seems not work, but the speaker works well.
The audio device is Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller,
and the Codec is Realtek ALC662 rev1.

Could any one help me?
Thank you.

Have you checked the input volume?  What program are you using to record?  Please provide output of

 cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Re: ASUS F8vr mike phone does not work!

You have the same mic as me on my EEEPC.  From the looks of it I would say the kernel is handling the mic properly.  I know that gnome uses pulseaudio which has caused some odd happenings including some input problems with the mic jack.  I did not look very far into these and simply removed pulseaudio as I don't use gnome anymore.  If you do not use pulseaudio, I would look closer at how gnome-sound-recorder works.  Try audacity to see if it's the program or something deeper.

Re: ASUS F8vr mike phone does not work!

According to alsamixer, the mic is muted (see the MM?).  Try unmuting it

What a keen observation.  Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most daunting.
