i have Ubuntu and windows installed on my laptop, and i dont Ubuntu, it too buggy now.
but for work i need Ubuntu, and i want to have arch. after my work is done i want to remove Ubuntu and just arch.... love it!
i need a bit of help here: i want to install arch boot-loader, but not to MBR. because i am using easy-BCD for dual-booting and i want to add a third option for arch. so no MBR installation of grub.

if you already have Grub installed by Ubuntu you won't need a different bootloader. Just install arch and skip the bootloader step, then in Ubuntu just edit menu.lst to point to your arch install.

he could just sudo update-grub

I think Ubuntu uses grub2, so there's no menu.lst to edit… but any grub wiki entry on any ubuntu board will do the trick.

ubuntu uses grub 1.99 not 2
