Cannot read CD's or mount iso9660

Hi,

I've been trying to install WoW through wine for awhile now. I have the DVD set for the game which I was trying to use, however you need to mount it manually using the "mount -t iso9660" command and it would always say "filesystem iso9660 not supported". So I borrowed the CD set from my friend and put it in the drive and I can't even mount the disk at all. This is the error message I get.

The volume 'WoWDisc1' uses the iso9660 file system which is not supported by your system.

Any ideas?

Re: Cannot read CD's or mount iso9660

It might be more helpful if you posted the whole command you typed for mounting the disc. Some discs don't even use iso9660 (but rather UDF). As far as I can remember, the -t - parameter isn't even necessary when mounting CDs or DVDs. A "mount /dev/cdrom /where/to/mount" should be sufficient (but requires superuser-rights). Additionally, I recommend Playonlinux from the archlinux.fr-repository.

BTW, usually, your desktop environment should take care of mounting optical media. Which one are you using?

Just in case someone else stumbles on this with the same issue: I had the same thing going on, then I remembered i did a kernel update today and never rebooted... modprobe was looking in the wrong src directory under the old kernel. So to fix it, i rebooted.

Skip the '-t' option.
