Possible bug in alsa driver for ice1712 / Envy24

I don't know exactly where to report this so I am asking here.

I had a problem with sound quality. Left speaker was not working properly, one could hear a foreign sound at specific frequencies and the sound had no dynamic, at least compared to the right speaker. After listening carefully many "test" songs I decided to change the twitter of the speaker. Problem persisted. Than I thought that maybe it's the frequency splitter of the speaker.
But, luckily, I tried to switch left-right channels from the exit of the Audiophile 2496 sound card and the strange sound moved on the right speaker. Than I thought it is the sound card (physically) broken.
Again luckily, I booted a LiveCD and I was happy to hear a crystal clear sound.
I would say it might be a bug in the alsa driver for this sound card.
- Problem persisted on a fresh Arch install.
- Problem was there also with some previous versions of the kernel.
- Sound card works perfect with Debian Squeeze.
Where do you think I should report this problem?

Thx

I have the same sound card and works perfectly. Use Envy 24 Control to switch between card and SPDIF box. Could it be the card?

I also have the same card, no issues.

Do you use the same grphics drivers in arch an debian? (might sound stupid, but e.g. nvidia proprietary drivers are noisy - with headphones I can hear it when I move windows..). Also check /proc/interrupts on both systems, snd_ice1712 shouldn't share an interrupt with anything else.

Thx for trying to help.
I coundn't figure out what's the problem.
The card itself can't be - it works perfectly fine with debian wheezy or ubuntu 11.10.

@teekay: yes, I use proprietary nvidia drivers.
@bt: I don't really get your point. I use envy24 to control volumes, but why should I switch to s/pdif? I am using the analogue output.
