No Microphone sound

I am running Arch KDE 64-bit.
I do not seem to be getting anything other than the boosts. Microphone is plugged in in the back port of the comp while the front does the same.  Works fine in windows 7 64-bit

Sound card chipset: Realtek ALC889

tl:dr no microphone. help meh.

Re: No Microphone sound

I had this problem plenty of time and it can be the consequence of various problems^^
But I can notice the following who are recurent:

Do you use pulseaudio? or alsa only?
Did it work if you use the front panel?

If it's alsa only open alsamixer in konsole for exemple using your tab key go to micro and be sure that they're not mute and that the input source is correct.
If it's pulseaudio go toalsa^^. No really I find the trick on pulseaudio but it's more complex.

P.S you can also try to change your phonon backend. Install the vlc or xine or gstreamer or mplayer package for phonon and try every of them.
P.P.S: if you use audacity just change the mic source  etc.
