Backlight going to its maximum when X server starts

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to configure some power saving settings for my brand new ASUS U36SD, using acpid + laptop-mode-tools + pm-utils.

I'd like to dim the backlight while on battery so I edited /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/lcd-brightness.conf to obtain that behaviour. It works perfectly on startup, but then as soon as the X server starts, my backlight goes back again to its maximum. I have to restart the laptop-mode daemon in order to dim again the backlight.

I think there are some settings related to X that make this happen, but I can't find them anywhere in the configuration files.

Any help would be very appreciated, thanks!
