Hey guys and girls,
I recently fell into a bit of a problem because alsamixer wouldn't open. So I reinstalled (and deleted my partition that I had ready to dual-boot, but that's besides the point) and had alsa working in the first place, but now I get the exact same problem.
tak@tak-laptop:~$ alsamixer
ALSA lib pulse.c:229:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Connection refused
cannot open mixer: Connection refused
(via pacman -Q | grep alsa)
alsa-lib 1.0.24.1-1
alsa-plugins 1.0.24-3
alsa-utils 1.0.24.2-3
pulseaudio-alsa 1-2
(via lspci)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 06)
Yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
(and yes, I know OSS exists, but I prefer alsa instead.)
I suppose I could put something of use here, but that's no fun.

I guess you know that you have pulseautio installed and you have read the pulseaudio wiki page (you could start with the question whether pulseaudio is started on your system)?
Greetings
