Webcam automatically starts

Hi,

Since I upgraded to kernel 3.0 on archlinux as well as ubuntu, webcam starts automatically on login and during the use it starts automatically and sometimes closes itself. Sometimes I have to stop it via skype configuration. I have reinstalled distribution as well but same issue.

How can I see which process is using the cam and is it sending any network traffic or not?

try

lsof /dev/video0

replace video0 if it's not your case - you can see in skype settings the device name.
