I bought a new graphics card and installed the nvidia proprietary drivers. It works pretty well aside from the fact that everything has a brownish tint - black is a dark brown and all colors are red/brown.
The display is a Samsung LE-32B530.
Is there a special setting for this?

Have you looked at Nvidia Xserver Settings? There is a section in the tool for color correction.
