OK, so today one of three Arch systems with which I interact had some pacman weirdness during routine updating. Usually, "pacman -Syu" goes pretty quick, but today it stalled on ":: Synchronizing package databases..." ..just sat there. I checked out pacman.log from another tty, but it didn't have much to say. Finally I just ctrl+z'd out and then killed the pacman pid, tried again after unlocking the db, but same result. My other Arch boxes updated with good perf. I finally re-ran Reflector after saving off my mirrorolist and things went normaly. So...I'm guessing one of the repo servers responded in a way that stalled the script? Seems like pacman should move on after a timeout like this...owell.
Thanks, Archers. ![]()

I had this same thing this morning, and came to the same final thoughts as yourself.
I ended up leaving pacman -syu running whilst I went and cooked breakfast, when I arrived back it alerted me to server time out.
Turned out the uk server at the top of my mirrorlist was down, I removed it and was back on the ball again.
I pulled a new list and ran rankmirrors anyway since it had been a while. I did find it odd for pacman not to go through other mirrors, not a huge issue but instructions on how to achieve this would be nice (if possible).
