USB devices not working -> KWorker high CPU usage

Hello,
I finally decided to posr here since I'm kinda lost with my problem. Here it is :

- When I connect any usb device, they aren't recognized, there is NO output in syslog, just as if it was totally disabled (there's no power either).

- BUT : if the device is plugged at startup, no problem, it's recognized AND if I do a `lsusb -v` (not simply `lsusb`) it is suddenly recognized normally, shows in log, etc...

- What I just realized also, is that when I plug a device, letting him dead (without doing the truck with lsusb -v) "kworker" starts to be crazy and consume big part of my CPU (which is then solved when I do the lsusb trick)

I'm using kernel 3.1.5, I think it started to happen when I upgraded to 3.0 series... I haven't downgraded to be sure (I guess I'll have to, but I don't think it'll help much). I thought it was related to laptop-mode-tools, but it seems not to be the case...
I don't know what kind of log to output here... since not the syslog... Is kworker using any kinda log ?? Any idea to start debugging this or even to solve it ?

Well, thanks in advance !

N

Is udev working properly? What is the output od dmesg a few second after having plugged in the device. type udevadm monitor (as root), plug the device and see if udev see the event.

My guess is that your udev is not working properly. Have you upgraded the full system. Are you not using a udev incompatible with your kernel.

I'm having the exact same problem. Currently running udev 175-1 and linux 3.1.5-1, which are both the most recent versions in the repository. Here my problems started when I did a full system upgrade on 3 december. If there is anything I can do/provide to help I'd be more than happy to help.

Re: USB devices not working -> KWorker high CPU usage

Well, sorry for the delayed answer. And thx for yours.
I'm not an udev expert at all, but I'm pretty sure it's of no concern since : 1) I tested with a pcmcia device and it is recognized without trouble, and 2) when i typed whatsyou said (udevadm monitor) I've no output, since I execute that "lsusb -v" command I stated... (so at least I do have a workaround, but still : it's kinda annoying when you spent so much time on a distro...)
Like Noin, I have latest udev & kernel version...
I'm pretty sure the issue is with that "kworker" stuff... but I really don't know how to diagnose it ! I don't even know to which package it belongs... I'm also having a deeper look to that topic which seems to be related : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=109371
