hi all,
as you can see i am a new comer, from the gentoo world
i find arch very true to its philosophy. it is sooooooooooo easy to work with. when i found gentoo i thought i had found my perfect distro until i tried archie yesterday. wow. it is an excellent distro.
i like the arch docs.
arch is so easy to understand.
installed arch lastnight and have already created 3 new packages and installed from scratch, though i need to make sure the pkgs are rock solid.
i have posted a msg for some pointers on this so after that i would love to create some of my fav pacs to archie
my desktop has 256MB mem, 2Gig AMD processor. when i installed gentoo it took me about 23hrs to install the same packages i installed with archie but archie took abt 1hrs.
to me arch is gentoo with bin and source install option also the fast installation allows me to play with my system without worrying about long installation time in case something goes wrong while playing with the installation. so testing this distro should be a lot less painful
thanks arch
all the best with the arch linux project

Welcome. I think you'll find many people here very helpful. Beware of the abominal polar bear that lurks here, though. "It" goes by the name of sarah31.
