How to (re)create the /var/lib/pacman/sync/*.db files?

Following a new installation using a 2-year old CD, I ended up without the above files.
pacman -Syu worked though, and pacman-db-upgrade, too (didn't complain),
but the database-files were still missing.

Is there a way to (re)create these 3 *.db-files (core, extra, community)?

Tom.

You need to download them from the server e.g. http://arm.konnichi.com/core/os/i686/core.db
Pick a fresh mirrorlist http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/ and try 'pacman -Syyu' again.

Re: How to (re)create the /var/lib/pacman/sync/*.db files?

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately my system froze after a pacman -Syu (with Yes as answers).  Had to power down.

Did the same on my eeePC, same effect. The system was looking for modules in /lib/modules/3.1.4... whereas there only was a 3.1.5... or similar. Easy to fix (rename) and X apparently worked after that so the system didn't freeze any more.

What bothers me is that I can't use dial-up any more. Where we live there is no alternative. Before the pacman -Syu
dial-up worked beautifully.

In the meantime I'm using a backup I did some weeks ago.

Thanks for your help,

Tom.
