[SOLVED] Package doesn't upgrade to Python 2.7

I currently have Python 2.6.5 installed. I'd like to install 2.7. A search in the Package Database shows:

i686    Extra    python    3.2.2-2
i686    Extra    python2    2.7.2-4

When I try "pacman -S python" or "... python2", or when I try pacman -Syu, it says everything is up to date.

Where's the disconnect?

Thanks...

I put a note in the other to disregard - I put it in the wrong topic. I didn't see a way to delete posts.

What about my package question?

Thanks...

Pick a fresh mirrorlist http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/ and run 'pacman -Syyu'.

You will find it beneficial to do the following:

  1. Provide a more informative title.

  2. Provide actual commands used and their outputs, eg:

    python --version
    pacman -Q python
    sudo pacman -S python2
  3. Demonstrate that you've tried stfw

Karol: Thank you. That worked.

/dev/zero: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll make it a point to do so in the future.

Thanks...

Hello,
The best way to handle it is to use the report link (Even though it is your own thread) and leave a message for the moderators.  We would be happy to move the thread for you.  I went ahead and deleted the other thread.
