starting startx/wm problems

When I try to run startx or a wm (in this case monsterwm). I get an error stating similar to the Xorg log or when i run monsterwm (xinitrc /usr/bin/monsterwm) it just displays a blank screen and hangs. any ideas?

Tha default monsterwm is pretty barebones, read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1030376 to get the hang of it.
Alt-Shift-Enter should bring up a terminal and you can start some apps via xinitrc.
