Hello,
My name is Andrew, I have been using Arch consistently for about 3 weeks now, and it is awesome, I came to arch from Ubuntu because I wanted something faster that wouldn't take 3 minutes to boot, I Installed it first on a Dell 780, then a Dell Latitude X300 (I work for a school as tech support so I have test computers lying around), which ran GNOME 3 perfectly, which surprised me, then finally on my personal Laptop, a Dell XPS M1330. Arch runs so fast and is so lean. It took me about 2 weeks to get the install on my Laptop just the way I want it, but it was perfect. I have been using Linux for about 3 years now, Vista made me switch, and I am never going back.
Pacman and Arch Are AWESOME!

Hello everyone.
This is my second day of using Arch, and am truly loving it. The community seems wonderful - one of the best out of any distro I've seen yet. Love linux, love programming in Linux.
Currently spend my time as a student, and in my spare time I study 3D graphics programming in C++.

Hello Arch community!
My name is Max and about a month ago I decided to make the switch from Windows to Linux. I was sick and tired of not really having any control over the OS I was running. I realize most people prefer to start with one of the "newbie" distros, but the more I read about "The Arch Way," the more I realized I was going to try it eventually. I am a student and as such I have plenty of free time to figure everything out, so why wait? I definitely do not regret my decision. Between the package manager and the extensive wiki, just about everything has been smooth sailing.

Hi everyone i'm Hein, i just installed arch and i'm slowly figuring out how to make things work properly, i've used ubuntu for some years and have been using crunchbang for the last year. Now i'm running arch x64 with xfce4, as soon as i'll get to know this distro better i'll switch again to openbox, my favourite DE.
See you in the newbie corner!

sup everybody?
been playing around with arch on and off for a couple months, and find it much less bloated than the fedora and ubuntu distro's that i've used in the past. wanting to learn more about how linux works, i decided to wipe an old box i had laying around and do a fresh net-install this morning.
you to get used to the command line quickly when thats all that you can use. all the documentation available makes Arch quick and easy to install even if configuring xorg is a bit tricky. wish i could get a gui up and running so i'm able to run eclipse and firefox thereby allowing me to use Arch as my primary OS.
where would be the correct place to ask for help with xorg? searching google for my specific error message only turns up about 120 results and a good portion of those are non english. though i might have found a workaround, i don't really know how to use it. i'm able to provide a copy of the error message that i get via pastebin as well as what may be useful link relating to the issue.

I would start with "Newbie Corner" (No affront intended).
If it turns out to be more complex than just a new member's learning curve, a moderator can move it to "Installation"

Hi Everyone.
I've been meaning to make some time to play with Arch for ages, and between trying to get my Macbook to play nicely with grub (no dice!) and work commitments, It's only the past few days I've had some solid time to play. All up, I love it! And the AUR is amazing!

Hey everyone! I've only been a linux user for 6 months now, but, I wanted more control of my system, I started with Ubuntu and eventually transitioned to Fedora. I saw Arch Linux, and three days later I installed it. Even though this is day one where I wasn't installing it I love it so far!

Hello everyone here!
My first day with Arch, must say, 3rd or 4th visiting this forum and the Arch wiki, and I've just succesfully patched my first AUR package (hardware issues with the damned Broadcom wireless interfaces). So I say, damn, reason enough to accept the truth: love arch and become a full community member!
Must apologize for my English

I installed Arch Linux about 5 days ago as part of my 8 distribution, multi-boot setup. Since then it's been almost the only distro I use. This is awesome!
I have been, and still am, a Fedora user. I've been running Fedora since Fedora Core1. I enjoy Fedora and will likely stick with it for some time to come, but I was looking for something different. something to do, maybe something that was a bit of a challenge. The Ubuntu's don't interest me although Mint is pretty nice these days. The Redhat derivatives are pretty much all the same, be it Scientific, CentOS, PUIAS, etc. I'm a Gnome fan so anything that is built around KDE as the main GUI doesn't interest me. What's left? I successfully built LFS but the minute I got to the LFS prompt I kind of just looked at it and thought "yeah, cool, this is going to be a LOT of work". That was the end of the LFS thing.
I've tried Arch before but it never lasted more than a day or two. This time seems different. I've had great success installing everything I need and now have a (for the most part) fully functioning Linux OS. Clean and fast, running on an AMD Phenom Quad Core.
uname -ar
Linux phenom-arch 3.1.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 10 14:43:09 CET 2011 x86_64 AMD Phenom(tm) 9750 Quad-Core Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
The Arch Wiki and all the Arch Linux related web sites and pages are an absoultely fantastic resource for anyone trying to install and use Arch.
So, I just wanted to post a coment to share my satisfaction with Arch Linux. Let's make this my official "Hello, I'm Glenn and I'm a Linux junkie" thread too since I've probably never introduced myself.

Hi Glenn, I've merged your thread with "The Official Hello Everyone Thread" in the Newbie Corner (not implying that you're a newbie though, that's just where these sort of threads go). Welcome to Arch

Hello everyone,
I'm Luca and I just installed Arch a couple of weeks ago, I come from ubuntu and I feel like I learned more about linux in these days than in almost 4 years of ubuntu experience, though I'm still at beginning.
Thank you for your work, this distro is made great by its active community. Wiki is something amazing, too!!

Hi, I'm from Ottawa, Canada and was pleasantly surprised with 2 things: The Beginner's Guide is truly a work of art; every guide should strive to write with such clarity, and I was very impressed with pacman and didn't expect it to do all it does.
I came from using Ubuntu, and I'm converted already after a successful install.
