Clementine don't start "Unable to update music library database"

Hello Everyone,
I've been trying some Music Player on my Openbox + Tint2 Arch, and noticed that Banshee as a bug with the notification icon (don't show the notification icon at all unless we disable it and enable it again in the option, and that each time I run banshee), Rhythmbox doesn't have any notification icon at all, and then I tried clementine, the problem is that Clementine won't start...

Here is the error I got :
"Unable to update music library database"

I have made some search on the web and those are the steps I've made so far :
1 - Removed the .config/Clementine folder
2 - Verifiy/Reinstall sqlite3

But nothing to do it still won't start :S...

Any ideas ?

Thanks in Advance,
Luis Da Costa

Re: Clementine don't start "Unable to update music library database"

I've run into the same problem with clementine 0.7.1 from the repository.

do me a favor and check these 2 things for me:
1. do you have ~/.config/Clementine/Clementine.conf (for me, this does not exist)
2. what is the filesize of ~/.config/Clementine/clementine.db (for me, this is 0)

I've opened a bug report on clementine's tracker:
http://code.google.com/p/clementine-pla … 1324740151

Re: Clementine don't start "Unable to update music library database"

I've build clementine from clementine's git repo, the problem appears to go away and clementine starts.

It's also available in the AUR:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50840

Yes I have exactly the same problem :S... I don't have any Clementine.conf file and my clementine.db file is 0bytes :S...

I suggest you install clementine from the AUR:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50840

If you need to know how to use the AUR, please read this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AU … g_packages

That will install the latest development version of clementine, this currently does not have the problem we have with the latest stable version.

I will try this then ^^ (Even if I prefer avoid aur the most of the time :S...)

After installing the AUR version and running it once, you can remove this version installed from AUR while keeping the ~/.config/Clementine/ folder

You can then install clementine stable form the repository, it will work with the database generated by the AUR version and be capable of updating it.

i just did this, currently running clementine 0.7.1.

Re: Clementine don't start "Unable to update music library database"

Right, I have done some proper digging around and I think I've found the cause.

clementine 0.7.1 in arch's repositories was built with this flag:

-DSTATIC_SQLITE=0

removing that flag seems to solve the problem, I've opened a bug report for arch:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/27709
