e ink netbook questions

I want a simple e ink net book, and i want it to run arch so i have control. I0 was thinking of hacking a Sony reader WiFi aka the PRS-T1, and adding a keyboard. so my questions are:
1.I am not a programmer or a expert so is that possible for me?
2. will arch have a driver to use the e ink display?
3. Does anyone have a better way to do this?

Re: e ink netbook questions

Anything is possible, but practically, this would be very difficult. First, you would need to find a way to force the device to boot from an installation media rather than its internal storage. That being said, I believe the PRS-T1 has an ARMv7 architecture, meaning you would need to use arm Arch (http://archlinuxarm.org). Even if you managed to get the dang thing to boot from the media and install correctly, I'm fairly certain you would have too many issues to be practical. But hey, linux is all about trial, error, and the fun of doing stuff no other OS can do. So if you have a free weekend or two, go for it. If it works, come back and share it with the community! smile
