please add nvidia support to the .23 release
and place a notice that users will have to edit
/etc/X11/XF86config
and change
Driver "nvidia"
to
Driver "nv"
to allow X to run
Off to using Peanut and Slackware, no hard feelings but I need my CD to burn, PDA and scanner to connect and arch won't do it.

are you sure about that?
did you remember to reboot after upgrading the kernel, then re-build the NVIDIA driver with:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496.run
Hapy.

Edit: First reboot after kernel upgrade or you will get errors from nvidia-installer. BTW nvidia-installer writes log in /var/log/nvidia-installer.log
It can be usefull sometimes :-)
Reinstalling nvidia drivers shoud work. If you deleted the original nvidia driver file you can download it with (it's always a good idea to have wget and links installed):
wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-4496/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
and than:
export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=true
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
No changes in XF86Config are necessary.
