I just put Arch on my workstation at my office yesterday. I was running on the Intel 915 onboard graphics before (board has Q33 chipset) with the Intel onboard audio working just fine. Today my new GPU came (POS 8400GS) so I can run dual monitors and it installed fine. However, I no longer have audio. Alsamixer only shows a device 0 and it's the HDMI out from the GPU. On my home workstation this wasn't an issue because the primary sound card used the ice1724 module and I was able to reorder how they load. Here, it is a big issue because both the HDMI out and onboard 1/8" out use the snd_hda_intel module, so I can't just disable or reorder it. Somehow I need to tell the snd_hda_intel module that it should control the onboard Intel sound and not the HDMI out.
I don't have a lot of time to dump into this, it being my box for work and all... Anyone have any suggestions?
