[solved] Proprietary nvidia drivers & suspend to RAM - works only once

I'm using the proprietary 290.10 nvidia driver and the latest kernel 3.1.6-1 with an nVidia 7600GT.

Suspend to RAM and resume works one time afer boot, but on the second try it doesn't suspend (I hear the HDD spin down, but the fans still rotate).

Following output in /var/log/messages.log:

The /var/log/pm-suspend.log doesn't show any difference between a successful and an unsuccessful suspend (for the unsuccessful the resume part is missing):

I don't really know where to start digging to solve this problem... Any tips here?

Re: [solved] Proprietary nvidia drivers & suspend to RAM - works only once

See if adding "acpi_sleep=old_ordering" to the kernel line in GRUB changes anything.

Re: [solved] Proprietary nvidia drivers & suspend to RAM - works only once

Big thanks, it works like a charm now! You by case don't also know a solution for the keyboard layout being reset to US after resuming? smile

edit: After about 5 suspend&resume cycles (just for testing) it froze after some minutes of work. Then it kept freezing even with no acpi option in the GRUB line. Twice it even failed to load GRUB presenting a blinking cursor directly after the motherboard logo.

I already had such problems once, they disappeared after some weeks without any action from myself. Strange stuff...

Re: [solved] Proprietary nvidia drivers & suspend to RAM - works only once

I suggest you create a new topic, and provide more information there (does it break in X or CLI? if the former, what desktop environment/keyboard layout applets are you using? what is your desired layout?).

Re: [solved] Proprietary nvidia drivers & suspend to RAM - works only once

Freezes seem to be gone after fixing the RAM latency in the BIOS. Now suspend works, so a new topic goes about the keyboard layout reset. smile

Thanks again,
