All those options are set by the nconfig.  I then use vimdiff to see what it did and set them in the bash code.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi graysky,

I want to compile my own optimized ck-kernel with localmodcfg="y" but there is still a small problem.
The module 'brcmsmac' for the WLAN card is never included although it is listed in my modprobed.db.
Do you have any clue what could be the cause?

@radio - Please limit posts in this thread to the repo and packages therein.  Glad to continue conversation in a new thread.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Is the 3.1.7 version compatible with the new udev ( devtmpfs, see the announcement http://www.archlinux.org/news/users-of- … s-support/ ), or do we have to compile us a custom version?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@big_bum - I meant to post to get in front of this but forgot.  Linux-ck users have nothing to worry, nor have they for the same period of time that official kernel users did.  Why?  Linux-ck uses the same base .config as the official ARCH kernel package smile

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

I understand. So basically when you build the kernel you just apply CK's patches to the Arch's official kernel. Am I right?

Oh, also I have an idea. Your repo is kinda slow (at least for me). I saw some users that upload their packages in Dropbox. Maybe you could link the Dropbox sync folder with the location of the repo folder to allow users to download the packages via Dropbox's servers and not your local server. I think that it will be faster for all of us. For you, the upload rate will increase and for us, the download.
If you think in implementing this feature, you could bet on me for testing it. If you're interested in, just email me.

@big_bum - yes, see the linux-ck wiki page for more specifics.  Dunno why the repo is slow... it is on a godaddy server.  I get pretty decent d/l from the US anyway:

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Heh, I got something like 40-80K/s right now. It's not my Internet connection, I usually have something around 8-9MB/s. Nevermind, I think it's worthing waiting a bit more for the kernel. It's not like we have updates daily. tongue

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Announcement:  Linux v3.2.0 is out today.  CK has released the bfs that patches into the 3.2 tree, BUT he has not released the ck1 patchset yet.  As well, Paolo has not yet released the BFQ patches for the 3.2 tree either.  I have released linux-ck-3.2.0-1 several hours ago which contains only the bfs since the other two components are not yet available.

Be aware that this release does NOT have:

*CK1 patchset -- only BFS v0.416
*BFQ I/O scheduler

Special note for users of the broadcom-wl-ck "wl" module: currently, this module does not build with the 3.2 tree.  It is therefore unavailable and users who depend on it for wireless cannot upgrade (the deps array should keep you from doing this anyway).

Indeed it does. Thanks. smile

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

OK!  I think I have the broadcom-wl-ck package fixed.  Both the repo and the AUR are now populated with it.  Please test and report back.

Thanks to this post: http://www.mindwerks.net/2011/11/wirele … -2-kernel/ and to dot for pointing it out!

One question: what's the purpose of linux-bfs in this case? hmm

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

From here: http://ck-hack.blogspot.com/

The -ck patch will not be far behind assuming the first few testers report no problems with this BFS patch. To be honest, the Virtual Memory subsystem has changed so much that I'm having trouble predicting how it will behave now and have no way of confirming the VM patches that go into -ck are even helpful any more, so I'm not even sure if I should continue to support them in light of that.

Besides, I've been too busy playing Zelda - Skyward Sword to really care much about anything code related. I've loved every 3D rendition of Zelda since Ocarina of time, but this latest incarnation is the most amazing game ever...

has anybody here compared 3-1-8 ck against 3-2 with just the BFQ?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@student and krum - my bad, fixed now in 3.2.1-2 which is building now.  Expect it live in ~3 h.

See the changelog here for more: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Linux-ck/Changelog

@stefan - there is no BFQ for 3.2 so no comparison.  DId you mean bfs?
