OK - I have grabbed my old pages and tidied them myself - i think everyone should try to do this where possible

OK, I did the same (up to a point) for my articles. it would be great though if someone who has an idea about the kernel compilation PKGBUILDs to check out the many articles on the subject here (http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … ompilation) and see what could be done to organize that better. Some of those articles probably need to be deleted as now it's very confusing (there is 5 PKGBUILDs there if I'm not mistaken).

OK - AFIAK mine is THE definitive version - it's the only one that should work with anything.

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … n_with_ABS - that one is awful - i'd delete that

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … _Prototype - last updated 2004 - bin that too!

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … ompilation- links page - should have been deleted already

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … th_ABS_2.4 - i should do a 2.4 custom kernel page version

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … Earlier%29 - i suppose that one is deprecated - i know there is a reason why i left it before.  If someone with a fast machine could try a build of 2.6.8 with my latest PKGBUILD that would be great

http://www.archlinux.org/archwiki/index … rom_Source - thats for doing it without makepkg - think we should leave it smile

OK, sorry about that, that page was my fault. I'm not sure though how to delete it?

No worries. wink
I dont think regular users have the rights to delete pages. They can create, and edit. Deletion requires sysop I believe.

We will probably need to create a small team of wiki maintainers, that can delete pages for people, update the wiki news, and maintain the wiki frontpage.

In the meantime, just pm me with any pages you would like deleted.

Cactus: Congratulations, we owe this all to you.

*wonders when cactus will be invited to officially join the Arch documentation team*

Re: ArchWiki Migration...At Last!

Indeed, seeing how much it took to convert a single chunk I am amazed that cactus converted 8! And all the other work in setting the mediawiki and initial conversion from phpwiki...

Re: ArchWiki Migration...At Last!

Hello all. I just got back home from being out of town. I went to see Dave Matthews Band in Wisconsin. If I were here I would have loved to help with the migration.

Thanks to all who did help, especially cactus.

EDIT: I just noticed that the forums icons had been updated with the ones iphitus made, thank you too.

Re: ArchWiki Migration...At Last!

Hey, just for the record.
I was there, but then I got some problem with the thunder and was forced to shut my computers off. So to be on the list feels wrong when I only did like...one half of a page, that was later fixed by somebody else.
Good work people, and sorry that I couldnt help out as much as I wanted.

Re: ArchWiki Migration...At Last!

Dude, you at least turned up AND tried to do something - we had a lot of people not turn up at all (approx 1000) and some turn up say they would help and then not do anything - so you deserve to be on there in my mind.

By the way, I kept a log of the whole thing.  It's 2000 lines long and mainly boring but if you want to see the migrators slagging off the original documentor for poor formatting; cactus repatedly explaining what we were doing and posting links or us ranting about cactus being slow to turn up at the start, then tuck in!

Re: ArchWiki Migration...At Last!

once again, looking back on the migration. Thanks to all.
dp  has really whipped the new wiki into shape. super kudos to him and rasat for continued good management of the wiki...

This is just a little post to let people know that I am going to be removing the migration docs, as it is a done thing. If anyone wants to snag them for whatever perverted purpose (maybe to show colleages what an example of bad documentation is..), then get them while you can. I will pull them sometime this evening...

http://cactuswax.net/~eliott/ArchLinux/wiki_migration/

I will tidy up this page, and delete some of the links too: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Migration_Chunks%21
