Hi, I searched around and the other posts similar to this didn't apply. When I click a song is just flashes and also a song 2 lines below also flashes but no joy, I did a file compare of packages with an install where it works fine and that didn't produce any fix, here is the output from starting it on the command line. I see a reference here that looks like the problem, but I don't know what to do about it. gnome-settings-daemon is installed. I am unsure why it can't be reached. I am guessing that this is what is causing the 'Banshee.MultimediaKeys.MultimediaKeysService' to fail.

Showing us daemons from /etc/rc.conf might help. And, is there a particular reason why you are running banshee as root?
Yo Dawg, I heard you likes patches, so I have created a patch for your patch, so you can patch your patches before you patch.

Hi and thanks, here is the daemons list :
DAEMONS=(hwclock syslog-ng network netfs crond dbus ptal-init cupsd)Yes I run as root because I am constantly mounting and un-mounting and I do a lot of dev work along with a lot of *nx testing, different desktops, different setups, so yes I know the risks, and yes it is not recommended I am on my own box and only my self to blame. Sorry just wanted to cover all the bases. I have many Arch builds and banshee is running fine. I keep my installs up to date I (-Syua) daily. I searched the forums and none fit this situation, although I did try some of the fixes to make sure it wasn't some odd dependency problem. It's odd, it seems to start -- the selection flickers them like I said 2 rows down then also flickers then nothing. The last line in the output shows where I clicked the file.
Thanks and I appreciate all your effort in helping me.

What is the output of
pacman -Qs gconfor is there any output? If not, try installing gconf, and restart the computer. Maybe that would help.

you have several mistakes
1) starting banshee as root
2) neither of your problems exposed above are related to playing music. maybe you are missing gstreamer0.10-plugins
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
