[SOLVED] Noisy harddrive after update

Hello

After my last update (yesterday) I noticed that my harddrive is very noisy. I updated with pacman -Syu and several packages were updated including linux (kernel).

My question is: Is it technically possible that this problem has something to do with the kernel update or the update of a package, or is it likely to be a hardware issue / defect ?

The noise sounds just like the fan, I first thought it was the fan, so it's not a clicking or something. I checked the drive with smartctl and don't see any errors. Also the noise is already there, when I power on. I found out that AAM is disabled for this drive due to ahci. Can the noise be related to this (ahci, kernel)?

The simplest method to find out is booting using an old kernel.

Ok, I tried downgrading some of the updated packages with pacman including linux and linux-headers.

The noise remained. I may try the windows recovery and then maybe back to the store...
