Hi,
few days before, I could view PSD files in Gwenview, but now it is impossible. I get error message "Loading 'file.psd' failed. Loading meta information", screenshot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/22 … iewbug.png
Qt: 4.8.0
KDE Development Platform: 4.7.97 (4.8 RC2 (4.7.97))
Gwenview: 2.8.0

Gwenview does not contain PSD specific code. It relies on Qt and KDE image decoders to read different formats. You need a file named kimg_psd.so in $KDEDIR/lib/kde4/plugins/imageformats to be able to deceode PSD. It is installed when you build kdelibs.
I have kimg_psd.so in /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/imageformats/kimg_psd.so and I can view PSD with KuickShow or Okular, but not with Gwenview.

Here is a topic on KDE.org http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=213&t=98328
Any advice?

PSD is Adobe Photoshop's default format, and it's usually not for previewing, it's for editing (because it contains layers, color profiles, etc). You can use GIMP to open them (or GIMPshop if you're willing to compile it... apparently it's not in AUR anymore).
Personally, I'd keep a VirtualBox VM around with TinyXP installed, just for Photoshop, Illustrator and any other Windows-only programs.
I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).

But previewing of psd worked perfectly in older version of KDE or Gwenview... and it could be some problem of Archlinux, because it works for example on Gentoo.
I've updated info on KDE.org forum and attached a strace log ... http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=21 … 75#p217575 and strace log http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51605867/gwenview-strace.log

Here it is 2013 and life remains strange.
Some Photoshop psd images open in Okular 0.14.3 and most do not.
It is not permissions -- within one folder we are read/write for all.
It is not layers -- changing a photo that Okular will not display to one layer does not make it displayable.
Those that display may have multiple layers.
If there is anything that drives a nerd bananas it is seemingly random behavior.
Any thoughts?
Popup: "Could not open [complete pathname].psd"
Thanks,all.
