Webcam recommendations

My wife finally dragged me into the world of Skype so she can chat with me at work (a home office, but it's at the other end of the house and she's physically handicapped). She really likes the face-to-face aspect of a webcam, so I guess I'm going to have to break down and install one. My box is old-school desktop tower so it doesn't have one built in like her laptop.

Any recommendations on webcams that work with Linux more or less right out of the box?

They had a lot of working webcams in linux (with the UVC driver, others webcams with different drivers might work as well...)

Personally I had experience with Logitech HD webcam Series (C160, C270 and C310), and they work out of the box in my archs. The only minor problem arised about little more than half year ago with a kernel change, but in kernel 3.2 it's already fixed and the arch kernel package manteiners have backported the patch to the current kernel (thanks folks!). See this thread for this topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121607. That apart, I would recommend this webcams because I think they give a good video quality at a reasonable price.

The only heads-up I can give you is that you should try to get a webcam that outputs preferably in YUV because skype may refuse to work with anything else, I suppose most webcams will output in YUV so that shouldn't be a problem.
