Re: yaourt tp_smapi error on lenovo t420

FATAL: vmlinux is truncated

looks like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1040999

Update your system and grab linux 3.1.9-2.
If you're already running the current kernel, reboot before installing other stuff.

When pasting code, please use [ code ] tags https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode

like this

It makes the code more readable, it's easier to see where the code snippet ends and your comments begin :-)

I can confirm that it doesn't compile with 3.1.9

It seems that the problem is in uname -r command in makefile. It gives:
[zlatan@jarilo ~]$ uname -r
3.1.8-1-ARCH

Comment by: reztho on Sat, 14 Jan 2012 13:09:11 +0000
Aurelije, everytime you update your kernel, you must reboot for recompiling your external modules.

About my issue, it's fixed with kernel 3.1.9-2.

Comment by: aurelije on Sat, 14 Jan 2012 14:44:16 +0000
After updating to 3.1.9-2 and restarting system everything is OK.

Comment by: Frazze on Sat, 14 Jan 2012 16:54:50 +0000
I am using kernel 3.1.9-1 and I get the following error:
Any ideas?

@aurelije: How did you upgrade to kernel 3.1.9-2 ?

I have two kernels on my system and acpi_call is failing to compile correctly.
Both kernels are Arch stock kernels (one newest, 3.1.9-2-ARCH at this point; second is LTS - just as a safety backup)

Acpi_call tries to compile module for both kernels, which fails of course. The solution was to use uname -r rather than listing kernels from /boot/.

The change is on line 45:
original for _kernver in $(file /boot/* | grep Linux kernel | sed -e 's/^.*version //g' -e 's/ .*$//g' | xargs); do
modified for _kernver in $(uname -r); do

@fnord0: do you have any reason for listing kernel version the way it's set up? or can you change it to uname -r?

Original behavior:
