I wonder, is this a sign that arch is making a move to systemd?
Or has potterings blog-page always been the authority on sysctl?
I am a bit concerned, but i am welcome to education

IIRC this was already asked on the ML.

I will redirect my attention and look into what was said there then.
Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure it was the ML ... because I can't find it.
I did find when was it introduced: http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 01835.html

I saw something about adding systemd itself to testing, and someone talking about bringing it to extra later,
aswell as a few baffled responses about it not being discussed on the mail-list before-hand, in pub_dev-ml.
It feels iffy, but i'll check the links you found aswell in the meantime.

systemd is already in [community] (and [testing])

Been using systemd from [community] for a few months now. Works great!
Edit: Btw it has been stated multiple times on the forum, that there currently are no plans to change to using it by default.

There are no plans of deprecating initscripts. We do however support many of the same config files as systemd do, and whenever we have been too lazy to create our own man pages, we link to whatever they have.
Systemd will be moving to [extra] at some point, but I don't think there should be any reason for concern. I certainly have no plans on giving up on initscripts.

Thanks for the straightforward answer.
