Server down?

I have 48 packages ready for i686 and x86_64. I don't have quite all of them ready yet, but I got all of the ones that already had PKGBUILDs on the AUR. I'll be working on those that are missing (mostly in mate-extra). Can I get some people to try it out before I get it synced to the Tridex repo? Thanks.
EDIT: I guess I should actually post the information. Put this in your pacman.conf

Hello MATE community,
Some preparation is ongoing to clean up the GNOME related articles in our WiKi, specifically these two:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gnome
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gnome_Tips
Part of this cleaning effort will be to remove all outdated (GNOME 2.xx related) information in order to keep both these articles current and relevant. It has been pointed out to me that some of this information may be of value to the MATE community.
I'm hereby asking if anybody here might be willing to look over both articles and see if anything is of value to the MATE articles, I wouldn't want to drop information that might help you out or be useful.

Thank you very much, stefanwilkens! Shall I merge all the content from the two articles into our Mate-article?

Sadly all the history form the time of Gnome 2 is already deleted, so I don't think that those articles help a lot anymore.
By the way, does anyone of you know how I can use feh, esetroot, hsetroot or anything like this with bambus to change my wallpaper? Because they don't work for me.

It was pointed out to me be people that relavant info might be there and lost if I hadn't at the very least poked you guys, thanks for looking over the articles Kopfweh.
I'll leave them in their current state for a little longer so others can have a look if they want

Quick update. A couple of packages went missing, so I'm going to get those up soon. Has anyone tried my repo yet? Just want to make sure it's actually working for someone other than myself.

@bickman2k
The repo seems to be working for me. A question I have is which repo's packages are the latest? pacman is complaining saying the datestamped packages I am using are newer than the version numbered packages.

perberos was using the date-based naming whereas the newer versions are being marked with version numbers. There are a few things left that are currently still using the date based versioning, but they should all be finished up with the 1.2 release.
I'd go ahead and "update" to the 1.1.x releases. They will be more current if they aren't already. Some may be slightly older than the AUR ones from 2011.12.16, but these were deemed stable by the Mate team per my understanding.

If you want to search through its history, the GNOME 2 article can be easily restored.

Well, not for me!
GNOME 2
This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference.
18:58, 9 July 2011 Pointone (Talk | contribs) deleted "GNOME 2" (GNOME 2 is not supported in Arch Linux; helpful content merged into GNOME and GNOME Tips)
There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs.
And if you look into GNOME you'll realize that you won't find the "original" status from the goold old Gnome2-time any longer because the history of the article goes just back to the 1. March 2011.
Only the GNOME Tips article can be restored. Do we need the information from there? I could copy'n'paste a "MATE Tips"-article together, but I'm not sure about how long Mate is needed until Cinnamon makes it obsolete and therefore whether it is worth it.

Sorry, I should have said "I" can restore it easily ^^ (restoring requires admin permissions)
GNOME 2's history goes back to 2005 and assuming you're interested, I've just restored it. In its last state it just had a deletion template, but look through its history and you'll be able to see all the revisions. Note that some templates were deprecated after the page was deleted, so you will have to look at the source text to be able to see their content.

Something is wrong with gnome-media and gnome-settings-daemon package. With --enable-pulse audio mixer should look like this:
not:
(screenshot from my pc)
Multimedia keys don't work (when I add --enable-pulse on gnome-settings-daemon PKGBUILD only VOL+/VOL- works, PLAY, STOP etc. does not).
In old gnome there was metapackage 'pulseaudio-gnome' which provided packages compiled with --enable-pulse option (and other pulseaudio patches, I think ;p).

dov wrote:I've been really enjoying using MATE, but one thing that was inherited from nautilus bothers me a little. There used to be an option in nautilus to have a text based location bar instead of buttons (until the developers got rid of it.) I'm wondering if there is any possible way in caja get a text based location bar? The old code could conceivably still be there.
I assume you mean the setting found under gconf-editor:
/apps/caja/preferences/always_use_location_entry
Thanks found that setting in mateconf-editor. Very happy now.

Trying to get proper MATE detection and theme detection from within MATE working in screenFetch. May have to work on getting actual GTK3 detection to work first. Need to install this and test.

Ok, thanks. Well I have the mate repo placed after the aur repo in pacman.conf so I am keeping up with the latest version.

As of now, there is a new set of packages in the repository which use a release based version numbering instead of the old rolling-release date based one. As the new version number is lower than the old one, pacman will complain about packages being newer in local than in the mate repository. In order to "downgrade" to the new packages please use
pacman -Syuu
once. The new packages are coming from bickman2k (see his post at the beginning of the page) and the date based packages are considered as development packages from now on and will only be updated sporadically! If you would like to stay with the old packages, please update your pacman.conf like so:
[mate]
http://packages.mate-desktop.org/repo/archlinux/development/$arch
#or
http://tridex.net/repo/archlinux/development/$arch
Also, there is a new way to access the packages, through the domain http://packages.mate-desktop.org/repo/archlinux/ , the old tridex.net domain will continue working though. See the wiki for more information!

I hate to ask this but it seems the proper place to.
Is there a reason I don't have the "normal" options to reboot/logout/shutdown/lock/etc and am just given the option to shut down?
Other than that I have to say I'm loving it, and I'm really (not that) surprised and pretty content that someone else knew the value of forking Gnome 2.
Edit: Nevermind. Solved my own problem (it was due to slim).

Hey, I have problem with mate-notification-daemon and dbus, at last I think so...
glib.GError: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)
insted of showing notification and crash for proces that tries to use it, any sugestions?
Already reinstalled dbus, glib, mate-notification-daemon and couple others (like python bindings).

What repo to use? The one the MATE wiki page says to use is on 1.1, and since then MATE itself is on 1.2 according to, well, everything.
