mini-itx for web filtering appliance - suggestions?

I'm looking to build a cheap, quiet, low power web content filter to help keep the kiddies safe on their iPods. I'm thinking Arch + dansguardian + squid, and maybe a DNS cache and privoxy.

Anyway, I'm overwhelmed by the number of mini-itx boards out there, today. Anyone have and suggestions? Other than two wired ethernet ports and low power consumption (the thing will run 24 x 7), I don't have any fancy requirements. AMD, Intel, Atom? I want to stay away from ARM. Don't care what kind of storage, though 2.5" SATA preferred b/c I already have a spare drive.

I was looking at that board, but seems like it's going to be a while before people can really get one. I'm sure the first batch will sell out in an instant, and there's no cases for it, yet. (I do like one poster's idea of building one from legos.)

My aversion to ARM is simply that I have no experience with it, and don't want to get 80% done with the build only to find that XYZ doesn't yet work on ARM. It is cool to see Arch listed as an option for the Raspberry Pi, though.

I didn't miss the "cheap". wink

But I'm running a quiet, low-power system,

an Intel Core i3-540 Dual-Core on an Intel Media Series DH57JG Mainboard, with an external (picoPSU-90) power supply.

System uses less than 30 watts.

It is a good system with lots more computing power than you are going to need, but unfortunately not cheap.

Stay away from ALIX boards, or at least avoid using a CF card. Those CF cards seem to be trouble on those boards.

The price seems a bit high to me. I "only" paid around  $350 for my Core i3-540 system including a Lian Li PC-Q07B Mini-ITX case, 4GB G.Skill DDR3 ECO Ram and a 500GB 2,5" harddrive.
