A post over on lifehacker today suggests trying a new OS this weekend. For linux distress, Arch is the first one suggested.

I remember the first time I've seen a book titled "Master playing chess in a weekend". I know it's not the same, Lifehacker suggests only trying out, not mastering the new OS but it still feels gimmicky.

Yeah, And things like this, makes me shudder: "Check out our guide to getting cool desktop effects in Linux, too, while you're at it."
I wish people were more interested in working fluently and utilizing their computer to run actual programs and software better,
instead of this hype of fluff..
But, Life is about personal choice i guess.

Rabcor,
Please do not "necrobump" old threads.
Also, as you've been warned for other violations, please review the entirety of the forum ettiquette. That guide most definitely should not be included in the beginner's guide and if that guide is your own work, advertising here in this way is not appropriate.
I'll close this thread now (ewaller beat me to that part).
