Please go back on topic. The issue of whether Arch is currently secure has been discussed before and it basically depends on how you define secure. The issue of whether Arch should be more secure has also been discussed before, and it comes down to the developers don't currently have the manpower to put any more effort into security than is currently done.
This leads to the original intent of this topic -- a group of users concerned about secruity going to the trouble of actually doing something about it. If you think Arch is secure enough as is, then great! Please ignore this thread. If you think Arch needs further security, then great! Please join max_sipos in his project.

Working as an IT intern has made me see the light. I'd be happy to help out with the STF, and I think it's a terrific idea. A properly maintained Arch install is incredibly secure, and it's easier when someone's helping out a bit.
If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience.

Hello,
It seems that the opinions are divided on the subject. I will go on with the project as I envision this as an optional thing (that will not affect the lives of arch linux users who do not want to use it).
I've made a draft of the proposal at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Security_Task_Force
Feel free to edit it and discuss it here. There are implementation issues (should the STF members call the maintainers via the bugtracker or email, etc). Or give additional ideas.
As a reply to some of the ideas given in the thread, I personally find that the whole STF project shouldn't be too ambitious.

Nicely done. About the mailing list thing, you may want to bring that up to Jason or Judd, to see if they can get it thrown together.

Good point, dp! It would be confusing to have several packages for the same thing. Communication will be very important to making this work correctly.

I like the idea of the discussion of the draft occuring in the wiki talk page. So, the discussion is here:
