wondering the same here, since I've been experiencing some annoyances lately. There's no perfect substitute though so I hope someone is still coding it.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of development recently but rest assured I have no intention of abandoning luakit. Things have been busy IRL with home renovations over the last few months, happy to say it's almost over.

And I'm recovering at the moment from having all four of my wisdom teeth removed so I'll be indoors for another week or so. Perfect time to ease my way back into luakit development.

No need to be sorry! As I said, I was just wondering. The thing with forums is, you don't know if anything might have happened to someone. Could also have been there was something tragic in your life or something like that.

Good to hear. Just giving another shoutout from another fan.

Having gone from uzbl to dwb and finally finding luakit. I can say luakit without a doubt has the best defaults and feels the most solid.

Ok I'm blind, is it possible to open links like in vimperator only with keyboard?

If anyone in power is listening to this: www.luakit.org/projects/2/wiki/BeginnerGuide could use some more information, like full shortcuts list

Sure is! By default, lower case f is for following a link in the current tab, and upper case F opens in a new tab. Or maybe a new window, I'm unsure if I've changed my follow settings. Either way, the key you're looking for is F

As far as I'm aware, there is no list. When ever I want to know the shortcut for something, I open up binds.lua and have a look through it for what I'm after. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Just wanted to add another vote for “let’s move to libwebkit3 soon”. Why? Because luakit became terribly slow a few months ago:

It’s the same on three very different machines. I don’t think it’s a configuration issue because it happens with the default config, too. I admit, though, that my machines are pretty weak. Two of them are six years old, the other one is a weak netbook.

Army narrowed it down to recent versions of libwebkit and he also said that everything is fine on fast, modern computers:

I have to correct this, it's much BETTER on fast, modern computers, but following is still a lot slower than with e.g. dwb and pentadactyl. So it's not completely libwebkit's fault, since dwb also uses libwebkit.

dwb had the same issue with one update of libwebkit, the hints became terribly slow but moving to libwebkit3 doesn't change anything. On my old machine the gtk3-version of dwb is noticeably slower than the gtk2 version, at least the fist start takes much longer but the javascript execution time should not differ. I think luakits hinting script has to be fixed.

Nope, almost identical cpu here, no problems here, luakit sleeps with 0% when I do nothing.

Hi,

I just wanted to say that luakit just became my browser of choice. I use awesome-wm and I've tested uzbl but didn't like it very much. So I used jumanji for quiet a while now. Yesterday I tested luakit and was impressed of how many things worked out of the box like following hints. Setting privoxy for adblocking was very easy, too. So I think I'll stick to luakit from now on and can't wait to customize it...

I have a question about flash not working in luakit, but I am reluctant to post here, as I have switched from Arch to CRUX. I asked on the luakit IRC channel but got no reply. The mailing list seems to be for devs only. The I did not find the answer to my question on the wiki. I skimmed this forum thread and didn't find my answer (unless I missed something), and I didn't find my answer via Google. What is my best support option if I am not currently an Arch user?

So that's why it doesn't work here. Currently I use the gtk3 port of luakit, see here and I thought that flash only doesn't work for gtk3 apps...

To enable flash-support for gtk3 browsers on i686, you need to install nspluginwrapper from the aur, which is a special i686-only version, without all those redundant lib32-xxx deps:

wget -qO- https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nspluginwrapper/nspluginwrapper.tar.gz | tar xz; cd nspluginwrapper-1.4.4; makepkg -si --noconfirm; cd -; rm -rf nspluginwrapper-1.4.4

And then run this command to enable flash through the nspluginwrapper:

sudo nspluginwrapper -i /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

I used vanilla nspluginwrapper (I'm not on Arch) and adjusted the path for my system and I get this when I run 'sudo nspluginwrapper -i $HOME/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so':

nspluginwrapper: no appropriate viewer found for .mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

What do I need to do differently? My CPU is an Intel Atom.

EDIT: Got this when using the -v flag:

*** NSPlugin Viewer  *** ERROR: libssl3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I will look into SSL on my system.
