I've been having this issue on this fresh install of Arch with XFCE. UI elements are not rendering correctly and stuff is missing.

Is this a common issue? And is there a workaround?

I'm also getting the white lines with Aurora and Clearlooks, but not the half-draw button under "Style".
My usual themes don't have any problem that I can see... (Drakfire black mod, T3K, Dark Arte, Atolm)
I don't have the very latest gtk2 though (I have 2.24.9-1, latest is 2.24.9-2.)

I think it might be a pacman 4 issue. My previous installs had no problems.

How can pacman influence the behaviour of gtk2-engines? IIRC, gtk2 has been updated twice since the introduction of pacman 4, so check if the most recent update (2.24.9-2) fixes the issue in the first place.

The problem seems to be in pixman library. Try to downgrade pixman package to 0.24.0-1 and re-login into your DE.

GTK 2.24.9-2 didn't fix it. I'll try downgrading pixman.

Thank you chaos8, I can confirm that's fixed the problem.
