Did a pacman -Syu to update the system and after the update my kde is broken. I get only a blank desktop. Pacman updated my KDE 4.7.4 to KDE 4.8. Don't know how to troubleshoot the problem and how to fix it?
Thank you

First thing I'd try is renaming the .kde4 directory and reboot/relog.

Tried it. Nothing changed

Can you load another environment? Also might try looking at /var/log/kdm.log or similar files if you use something other than kdm.

Usually excellent advice whenever KDE does an upgrade. If Apocaliptic had the same problem I did though, try changing your desktop to another mode and then back again e.g. if you're in folderview mode, change it to "desktop" mode and then back again. Worked for me...

Sometimes plasma widgets (from AUR) can break stuff on upgrades. Make sure if you're using any AUR or other 3rd party plasma widgets that they're up to date (possibly recompiled) and not causing conflicts.
