Hi guys,
first of my stats:
3.00 Ghz Processor, 1.5 GB Ram (3 GB swap), Geforce 9500 GT with Nvidia driver.
So when I start my newly installed Minecraft after boot everything (the whole world/map im currently in) loads quickly and smoothly with low CPU usage. Everything is fine.
But after 2 minutes it gets heavy CPU usage with java at 90% and around 70% of my memory is used (but only 3MB swap) . Things don't load that quickly anymore and the game doesn't run smoothly.
This just seems strange to me. Is this normal?
If not, can I prevent it? I know my stats aren't the best, but I guess i could do something to improve it.
Any ideas?
Thank you for any help!

. 64 or 32-bit arch?
. Noveau or nvidia driver blob?
. Openjdk 6 or 7 or other java version, 64-bit?
. Window manager?
. Vanilla minecraft? what does your /bin/minecraft script/java line for minecraft look like, if you have it installed from aur?
- These are some of the information that could make someone get any idea about your performance issues, for starters.
In general, vanilla minecraft uses quite a bit of processor and memory, since it is java based, dual core and above is prefered.
It is also best to have a stable opengl capable card/driver, nvidia-blob would be recommended.
Look into the details, and good luck.
