That's why my advice was straight away to buy another card. The nivdia-96xx-driver is not supported by xorg-server 1.11, so you need to downgrade to xorg-server 1.10 and that comes with a lot of extra work. If you know your way around, I'd say you'll have better results building packages yourself with ABS (manually checking all dependencies).

I know it can be fun to tinker around and finally get it to work, but downgrading X has a lot of consequences. I think I can safely state that your in dependency hell right now.

OR you could just wait it out for 2 more kernel-versions: iirc, kernel 3.4 will have a the new nouveau-driver and mesa 8 with support for OpenGL 3.0.

Not at all. The only packages directly tied to X are xf86-input-* and xf86-video-*. We're not interested in the latter, so we can forget those. That only leaves xf86-input-evdev and xf86-input-synaptics if you're on a laptop. That's it. Far from the dependency hell you're trying to portray.

It's very much workable to stick to an old X, the hassles are minimal, they pretty much consist of knowing which version of evdev and synaptics to install (a small trial and error will quickly determine that). Once you have that, you set up IgnorePkg and you're done. I was once running xorg-server-1.4 when 1.7 was in the main repos.

I'm not aware of any new driver. There's only the usual continuous development of the existing driver (the coolest new addition coming to it being reclocking support). And I seriously doubt mesa 8 will make a difference on a card that can't even do OpenGL 2.

All the work is done only resolution needs to be set somehow cause it is in 640x480 mode right now. Aside from that everything is working and doesn't seem to have any problems with my version of xorg-server. And as I said I need a minimal set of graphical instruments, even now the pc is doing a great job But I am a little away for the weekend so I will finish the work next week. Thanks alot for the help I will mark this as solved
