AUR helper that notifies you when a package is removed from the AUR

I keep getting burned by this. Are there any simple AUR helpers that will notify you when an AUR package you installed has been removed from the AUR? I prefer simple helpers like 'packer' to the kitchen-sink ones like 'yaourt', but I'm open to any suggestions.

What do you mean by 'removed from the AUR'? Moved to [community] or being deleted from the AUR?

Both. I generally don't want to keep a package installed that will never be updated.

So not both then - packages that are moved to community will be updated, unless you disable the community repo.

I use aurcheck and weave it into my update scripts, it's doesn't download or anything it just lets you know about new versions or indeed it's removal etc.

Do the package names remain the same, when they are moved to community from AUR? Some packages have strange naming schemes.

That is up to the TU who moves the package. Most of the time, if the name is sane, it doesnt change.

Some packages are both in the official repos and in the AUR under slightly different names. Take mplayer2 for example: it has been recently removed from the repos, but mplayer2-git and a few others alredy exist in the AUR.

Edit: LOL, looks like a package named 'mplayer2' has just been uploaded to the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=56356
