"Unable to find root device" after system upgrade

After running pacman -Syu and a reboot, I'm getting this result on boot:

:: Starting udevd...
done.
:: Running Hook [udev]
:: Triggering uevents...done.
Waiting to seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/3b8ec1f8-9b6b-4f38-b671-d708a0b21344 ...
ERROR: Unable to find root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/3b8ec1f8-9b6b-4f38-b671-d708a0b21344'.
You are being dropped to a recovery shell
    Type 'exit' to try and continue booting
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off

I'm running Arch on VMWare.

As an aside -- I don't know if this could affect the situation -- but I ran Truecrypt as root and tried to mount an encrypted volume just before rebooting. I got this error:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tr … oop_device

This prompted the reboot. But again, this was all after a system upgrade.

Try booting without uuid for once, maybe it got changed for some reason.

Re: "Unable to find root device" after system upgrade

I downgraded to an earlier kernel and was able to boot.

I then upgraded to 3.2.2 and was also able to boot.

I *think* this may have initially been caused by something truecrypt did when it tried mounting a volume.

Using gpg now smile
