Hello
Is anyone else having issues installing this from AUR?
I am running into this error:
==> Building and installing package
==> ERROR: install file ((gnome-shell-google-calendar-git.install)) does not exist.
==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build gnome-shell-google-calendar-git.
==> Restart building gnome-shell-google-calendar-git ? [y/N]
I tried looking through the pkgbuild but I can't really make sense of where the issue is.
Any thoughts?

I'm trying to do the same thing and ran into the same issue. I don't see anything wrong with the pkgbuild either, but then again, I'm far from an expert at this stuff...

I hope you downloaded the full Tarball not just the PKGBUILD file, as the tarball contains "gnome-shell-google-calendar-git.install". Maybe you want to read the according wiki article...

Edit: Just saw the error in the PKGBUILD, you have to remove the outer brackets in the "install=" line, so change it to:
install=${pkgname}.install
otherwise the brackets are part of the filename which is being looked for. You might inform the package author of this issue.

Yes I was downloading the tarball. I tried manually doing (and I've installed plenty of stuff from the AUR before) and I tried installing it with packer. Neither of which worked. I about to try the suggestion you made though. Anyway I can update the copy on the AUR if it works?
Edit: Just tried it and It worked perfectly!

It worked for me as well. Thank you very much and I will read what you posted as well as inform the maintainer of the bracket issue.

Huulivoide already pointed out the install= error in the PKGBUILD 2 months ago (see the comments on https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49468 )
This variable is not an array, so the brackets are confusing pacman.
