Vanilla kernel and GUFW/UFW/Iptables problem?

Hello I have been a long time Arch Linux user but I rarely visited these forums, I have been having some problems when it comes to compiling a custom vanilla kernel and with IPTables ( with the gufw frontend ).  So when I go get the vanilla kernel sources from kernel.org and compile my customized kernel I cannot connect to the internet correctly when IPtables is turned on.  However if I disable it it will connect fine.  Is there anyway to fix the problem with IPTables and making a custom vanilla kernel?

When compiling from the Arch Linux abs sources it works fine but it comes with a lot more options enabled then I would need.  If it is possible to disable a lot of them quickly like the vanilla sources that would be fine as well.

( Sorry if my grammar is bad I am not the best speller )
