My system had become unresponsive and so I decided to power off. When it came back up, I log into my shell and the display becomes "garbled". Just mostly characters from the extended range of the character set and also odd behavior when I press certain keys.
If I go into X – things seem to work fine.
My shell – zsh – reported "history corrupt" when I logged in the first time – so I'm pretty sure this has to do with file corruption. I just don't know which files might need restoring and how.
