Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

Generally speaking, I'll use fbpanel and it works well enough, but xfce4-panel also works quite well and it has some really nice plugins if you want to go that route.

Oh snap, was expecting someone to mention something more awesome than tint2, apparently there still is none. smile
I'm using tint2 also.

Fbpanel.

I've tried nearly all of them and it's my favorite.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I didn't really want a panel in openbox, just a 1-pixel margin to access menu and windowlist easily. Even in Fvwm (which is very flexible in creating your own panels) I typically avoid desktop furniture in favour of window management tricks that make it redundant. As for a launcher, I rather like Kupfer... Quite functional and without excessive dependencies.

tint2 all the way. Easy to configure and does exactly what I need it to do.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

Looks like lots of tint2 users chiming in here.  It's been quite awhile since I last looked at it so maybe time for another test drive.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

Go for the svn version in AUR. It has lots more options.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I eat my own dog food and use [dmenu-launch].
At some point, I will make it figure out which programs should be launched in a terminal, and also add an option to sort history by most-launched program rather than by last launched.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

Panel: tint2
Launcher: dmenu_launch

Both simply do their job, although replacing tint2 with something prettier wouldn't break my heart.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I played with tint2 on openbox and quite liked it. Most of the time I use Awesome though, without any panels. For a launcher I use both kupfer and the awesome run menu.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I had been using gnome-shell, but recently decided to try out xfce, which I'm using with the default xfce panel + awn.

I eagerly await. dmenu-launch changed the way I use my computer- no joke.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I'm thinking of leaving gnome shell for open box.

Anyone want to suggest decent alternatives for panels with applets?

Thanks

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

For my panel im still using fbpanel. recently got cairo-dock for a launcher. Before that I was using wbar. I may give some other panels a try sometime (and perhaps even other wm's).

I like pie. Especially with a side of Arch.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I used to use bmpanel2, but now I don't use one any more.  Just conky piped to dzen2 alongside of stalonetray and alltray to minimize apps to the tray when I want to get them out of the way.  Honestly, I don't think I'll ever go back now either, especially since its probably less of a resource load than before, considering I would have used the conky/dzen2 combo with bmpanel2 anyways.

I'm using the Xfce panel + AWN. They make a very comfortable desktop.

Re: What panel/launcher do you use?

I use Openbox. i have a 1px border on top and on the bottom where I can click right or middle to summon the launcher or the window list. I use docker and wmclock in a auto-hidden dock on the lower right corner. I have never been less distracted.
