[SOLVED] xorg-server with xf86-video-savage in testing backtraces

I just upgraded testing on my t23 thinkpad, it uses an old savage cards, which is one of the cards that is due to get some of its old features stripped out in the new xorg so i expected issues. Here is the log

Isn't this mesa 8.0 dropping support entirely for your card? I don't think there's a way to "fix" this short of using an older mesa release.

The update should have removed savage-dri without any interaction.

Mesa is just for 3d. And support for savage has indeed been removed from it. But the 2d savage driver remains and should be working.

Yes, only 3d is dropped afaik. There is even a xf86-video-savage in testing, but as i see its only a rebuild of a for months old driver, maybe it needs updating.

I've just commited the PKGBUILD to svn/trunk to use latest git snapshot. Please build it yourself and try it out and also test with --enable-dri and --disable-dri.

Re: [SOLVED] xorg-server with xf86-video-savage in testing backtraces

I built the PKGBUILD as it is, had to change the md5sum. Ran into lockups and freezes but adding

Option "NoDRI" "True"

to device section in xorg.conf fixed it. Thanks for the quick response.
