Hey guys, just wanted to ask what is this .ICEauthority file and which program creates it.
From what I could find this is "Inter-Client Exchange". But what a fishy filename...
Sources:
http://www.x.org/releases/X11R7.6/doc/l … iew_of_ice
Also this files use ice library, by the looks of it;
:: libsm: requires libice
:: xorg-iceauth: requires libice
By looking inside of the file, there is alos "MAGIC-COOKIE".
Other Files Found:
/tmp/.ICE-unix
/tmp/.xfsm-ICE
/tmp/USER/.Xauthority
What is all of this, any one knows ? Can be uninsulated and what installs this packages ?
Thanks.

It looks like this is required by xfce4-session and xorg-server-utils. Any one can confirm this ?

What do you mean 'required'? Are you getting any errors?

@karol, Well I've tried removing package libice and this is what I got;
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: libsm: requires libice
:: xorg-iceauth: requires libice
Then I've tried removing also xorg-iceauth and got this;
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: xfce4-session: requires xorg-iceauth
:: xorg-server-utils: requires xorg-iceauth
So what I would like to know is do I need any of those required packages if I'm using XFCE+Slim ?

A little research on your part in the Xfce wiki page would have found this:
The proper command for launching Xfce is startxfce4: do not start xfce4-session directly, since it is already run by startxfce4 itself.
So unless you use a different method to start Xfce you need libice for xfce4-session.

@RaisedFist, It's not, was just wondering if It's safe to remove it.
@sonoran, This is what I'm using now in my .xinitrc file:
exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch startxfce4
So is it safe to remove all of those then ?
