KWin failures

My Kwin is having errors with multiple windows.  When I do certain tasks such as saving/opening a document in KWrite, kwin dies, and I am forced to restart Xorg.  This also happens when I open a program from the K Menu that requires me to enter the root password in the popup dialog.  It seems that this happens whenever a KDE system dialog is accessed.

Here is the gdb debug backtrace information:

Re: KWin failures

This thread is about the same problem *I think*.  http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=12947
Maybe there's a hint/solution in it.  I haven't read the whole thread.
