I have search high and low, but I cannot seem to fix my audio issues, nor find out what really is the recommended audio setup for Arch and KDE
If I just have alsa-utils installed I get this message A LOT!

If I install alsa-utils, pulseaudio and pulseaudio-alsa, my volume settings are never remembered, I want my laptop to start up with the volume set to what it was when it was shutdown
What is the recommended audio setup for Arch with KDE?
Thank you

You can write your own udev rules to make sure your hardware is identified always the same way: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Udev (http://www.reactivated.net/writing_udev_rules.html)

I like Pulseaudio, and apparently the KDE devs do too. If you're using Pulseaudio in KDE (which I think it defaults to if you have PA installed), you need to add alsa to the daemons in rc.conf for your volume to be restored. Also, you might want to go to Kmix's settings and make sure "Restore volumes on login" is checked.
