Most things are working ok, except for the synaptic problems that Thomas mentioned on the dev mailing list

Seems to affect only ALPS touchpads though. My netbook has a synaptics touchpad and I don't have any issues.

Ditto on my synaptics. nvidia-beta (from the AUR) is just fine as well.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

Just checked if my wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch CTH460 works:

$ lsusb:

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1532:0109 Razer USA, Ltd Lycosa Keyboard
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 1532:000c Razer USA, Ltd Lachesis Mouse
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 056a:00d1 Wacom Co., Ltd Bamboo Pen & Touch (CTH-460-DE)

It works out of the box, without udev rules only /etc/xorg.conf.d/50-wacom.conf
2FG scrolling works, Pen, eraser functioning, and 2 out of the 4 expresskeys.

More fun, pinch zoom functions my browser (google chrome (dev build from aur))

This is from the Xorg.0.log:

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

Predictably (and horribly) broken with catalys 12.1, alas.

Which ones? You're the first one reporting issues. Works fine here with two quite different cards - Geforce Go 6600 and Geforce GTS450

Not the first one.

Working : GeForce 7000M on my laptop.
Crashing : GeForce GT 210 on my desktop.

Crash is known : see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28441

Oh, that. That's not X related, it's a nvidia driver bug, regardless of X version.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

I'm having a ThinkPad T400 here with a Synaptics touchpad and a TrackPoint. With the upgrade some weird behaviour got introduced:

When I

  1. scroll using my touchpad

  2. use the trackpoint (move the cursor or press one of the TrackPoint's buttons)

  3. and then scroll using the touchpad again

the content (e.g. webpage, text editor, …) starts scrolling from the top.

I confirmed this issue at a friend's with a different ThinkPad model.

Updated to xf86-input-synaptics 1.5.99-0.2 today and it cured my coasting problem.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

I'm currently seeing segfaults with the xf86-video-vmware driver and the Xorg from [testing].

I'm using systemd, if that matters.  I guess I haven't technically nailed it down to the vmware driver, but that is the one feature of this setup that would differ from others.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

Works mostly fine for me too, mesa git and radeon.

One problem is that in wine games the mouse is very jumpy again, makes skyrim unplayable, warcraft is visibly affected, but doesn't affect gameplay. I have not tested much with downgrading, so maybe people can just tell whether their games still work well in wine?
Not sure if it's wine's fault or new xorg/evdev driver/?? (synaptics touchpad also has the problem. Not sure what's going on, but could be related)...

Description : X.org vmware video driver

I'm using systemd, if that matters.  I guess I haven't technically nailed it down to the vmware driver, but that is the one feature of this setup that would differ from others.

Same here, except now it has been moved to [extra]. Note good. sad Bug is here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28882

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

Xorg 1.12 is working fairly well here (just upgraded a while ago).

However, one small annoyance/bug(?) is that my wacom seems to scroll (downwards) really fast, but only when i first scroll. after this, scrolling behavior is normal in both directions.

But on my system it could be caused by a few different things, as i gesture recognition software with scrolling emulation. So i will have to investigate it more, before i know what the cause is.

Description : X.org vmware video driver

I'm using systemd, if that matters.  I guess I haven't technically nailed it down to the vmware driver, but that is the one feature of this setup that would differ from others.

Same here, except now it has been moved to [extra]. Note good. sad Bug is here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28882

HAVE downgrade and hoping for solution.  THANK YOU.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

I have the "segfaults with the xf86-video-vmware driver" problem as well but with the latest [extra] Xorg package ....

Unfortunately there are no downgrade packages for Xorg in /var/cache/pacman for some mysterious reason  (I did a pacman -Scc but this was a couple days before upgrade)

Would it help to rebuild xf86-video-vmware from ABS ?

Shall I create a new thread as the fault occurs in [extra] now ?

Thanks for your help.

Has anyone tested with catalyst 12.2 yet? I've been holding back the xorg updates deliberately.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

I'e gotten good enough at rebuilding open-vm-tools open-vm-modules, that didn't allow me to start X. I didn't think to manually rebuild xf86-video-vmware. dunno. though downgrading worked. had to uninstall a few packages in order from initial login term and it was all a bit haphazrd on my part though worked. then reinstalled xf86-video-vmware and vesa and put open-vm-tools back in the DAEMONS line of rc.conf having removed it and rebooted before downgrading. this done after reinstalling rebuild open-vm-tools and modules and then Pacman  -U reinstalling then at the same time. dunno what would be more efficient and/or what I'm unable to recall.. sorry.

So, I also dared to upgrade the X.Org-Server and restarted after that. Up to now without any problems. smile

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

Having downgrade I'm now considering upgrading to:

              open-vm-tools-modules-2011.12.20-7    xf86-input-evdev-2.7.0-1  xf86-input-vmmouse-12.8.0-1
              xf86-video-vesa-2.3.0-8  xf86-video-vmware-12.0.0-1  xorg-server-1.12.0-1

the above are the updates offered. I believe this was the xorg-server that was the problem.
anyone tried these?

does the new open-vm-tools-modules etc. fix things.

thanks.

Re: Xorg 1.12 : no problem so far :)

EDITED certain amount of user error here. as of today there's both openvm packages updated.
pdate is terric and working well. thanks!

a couple of days ago i did a regular upgrade, my downgrades were of course replace and the
system booted as expected.

i didn't rebuild open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-modules as I'd normally do, though whatever I tried
beside the 2 rebuilds i couldn't get the shared folders to operate.

anyone have an tips?

I'm about to try again today with the newer updates and I will rebuild both packages as well, after the
new relevatnt repo package(s) gets installed by pacman -Syu

NOTE: update is fine.
